BAY CITY PLAYERS / theater poster series - 2008-2009
From 2008 to 2009, I worked with the Bay City Players community theater group to create program covers and posters for each of the plays in their 91st season. This was a particularly exciting project for me, as it gave me the chance to interpret the themes of each play visually, creating imagery that built an emotional connection to the content of the plays and hopefully enhanced the theatergoer's experience of seeing those plays on stage. It also gave me the opportunity to create a cohesive body of work over time, applying branding techniques to a project with a lot of visual and textural complexity. This idea of branding through depth and texture forms the foundation of a lot of my work, and a lot of it started with the Bay City Players project, leading to extensive projects like the Cranbrook OneXOne lectures poster series and the visual identity for the 22 studio I ran in Berwyn with Jessica Calek.
